This page describes the make-up and duties of the Executive Board.
It also includes a short biography of each Executive Board Member with a contact link.
DUTIES
- The Executive Board shall consist of the Local President, Vice President,
Recording Secretary, Treasurer and the State Executive Board Member(s).
- The Executive Board shall exercise the legislative powers of this
Local Union.
- It shall be the duty of the Executive Board to ensure that the affairs
and business of the Local Union are being properly conducted.

John Savala started his postal career
as a letter carrier. He transferred to the Mail Handler craft in 1990 and began representing Mail Handlers
in 1992 with his appointment as a shop steward. Brother Savala has held the positions of Administrative Vice President,
two terms as Local Treasurer and one term as Local Vice President. He was first elected Local President in 2005 and
re-elected in 2008. Brother Savala also served as Chairman of the Arbitration Committtee and is an Arbitration Advocate.

| Van Greathouse, Vice-President |
Van Greathouse began his
Mail Handler career at the KCK Bulk Mail Center in 1986. He subsequently transferred
to the KCMO P&DC and was appointed to shop steward in 1996.
Van served as the Chief Steward on his tour from 2000-2006, at which point he assumed the duties of KCMO P&DC Branch
President. Prior to his being elected to his current position of Local Vice President,
Van served two terms as Missouri State Executive Board Member. As Vice President,
Brother Greathouse is tasked with providing union representation to facilities in the Greater Kansas City area having no Branch
President. He also serves the Local as an Arbitration Advocate. vgreathouse@npmhulocal297.com
Nate Campbell began his postal career at the
KCMO P&DC in 1986. He has served as a Union Steward since 2001. Brother Campbell is currently serving his third consecutive term as Local Treasurer, as well as serving

| Marie Williams, Recording Secretary |
Marie Williams began
her postal career at the KCMO P&DC in 1986. She was elected to the position
of Missouri State Executive Board Member in 1999. Sister Williams is currently
serving her third consecutive term as Local Recording Secretary, as well as serving as Tour 2 Chief Steward at the KCMO P&DC.

| Chris Bentley, MO State Exec. Board Mbr. |
Chris Bentley began his Postal Service
career in December 1998, and became a steward four months later. He became an arbitration advocate in 2000; was
elected Springfield, MO Branch President in 2002, and was re-elected in 2005 and 2008. Chris was also elected Missouri
State Executive Board Member in 2008. Brother Bentley serves as a Union trainer and has been Chairman of Local
297's Arbitration Committee since 2006.

| David Kovac, KS State Exec. Board Mbr. |
David Kovac
was hired as a Mail Handler in 1974 and worked at the KCMO GPO until May 1975 when he transferred to the KCKS BMC. Prior to being certified as a shop steward in 1984, David volunteered his services to the union as Chairperson
of the BMC Picnic Committee. His union experience includes the following elected positions and appointments: QWL Coordinator for the KCKS MSC 1987-1992, Kansas State Executive Board Member 1993-1999, KCKS BMC Administrative
Vice President, Convention Delegate in 1992 & 1996, plus several stints as
an Election Judge for Local Officer and Convention Delegate elections, twice as the Chairperson. dkovac@npmhulocal297.com
